Four Castle Academy pupils have been praised for their poster designs highlighting the dangers of air pollution.
The children entered West Northamptonshire Council’s Clean Air competition, which invited learners to create a poster about the importance of protecting the environment.
The four pupils – Ayirah Gill, Aadi Gyanchandani and Jeremy Benson, all Year 6, and Ayana Browne in Year 2 – were all chosen as finalists in the competition.
Aadi said: “My poster is about idling, when you’re in the car and you’re stopped at a red light but your engine is still on so your fuel is still burning and the smoke is coming out from the back, creating pollution.
“If we look after our environment, it will look after us. If we create pollution, it sends harmful gases up into the atmosphere which will cause more global warming. That would be a problem for cold places like Antarctica where the glaciers will melt and the sea levels will rise and the habitats of animals living there will decline.”
The school will receive a prize from the council to further support their environmental projects.
