Autumn Spotlight
This term in Maths, Year 3 have been focusing on place value. This has involved re-exploring our hundreds, tens and ones, as well as ordering, comparing and partitioning 3-digit numbers.
In English, Year 3 are currently reading Stone Age Boy. This story is full of excitement and imagination and links to our current History and Art topics. The children will be creating their own stories based in the Stone Age.
In Science, Year 3 have been exploring different types of rocks and have been investigating what rocks would withstand different types of weathering. We have even designed a plaque to go outside the school.
In PSHE, Year 3 have been investigating ‘being me in my own world’ and our responsibilities to making our world a better place to live in.
In Computing, Year 3 have been learning about branching databases and yes/no questions.
In Spanish, Year 3 have been learning all about Spain, traditional phrases, numbers and colours.
In Art, Year 3 have been learning all about cave paintings. The children have been colour mixing, drawing with sticks and creating pictographs to tell a story.
In History, Year 3 have been focusing on the Stone Age, including how early humans lived, the tools they created, their hunting and gathering practises, cave paintings, and changes to farming that shaped their communities.
In Religious Education, Year 3 have been exploring important aspects of Islam, including the role of prayers, the mosque, and festivals in bringing the community together and strengthening shared beliefs.
A super positive start to the year!
