Autumn Spotlight
This Autumn, we will be focusing on topics and tasks linked to 'World Wars'. As an exciting 'hook' to this genre, we delved into identity tag making for evacuees, making paper Spitfires (which were the most famous British fighter aircraft in History) and also constructing their very own life saving gas marks - made out of just cardboard. This has really got the children inspired with some thought-provoking questions about this challenging period in our History, which no doubt will be covered in the forthcoming weeks. Well done Year 6!
Autumn Spotlight
This term in Maths, Year 6 have been refreshing their high-level skills in arithmetic, by focusing on place value. This has involved re-exploring addition and subtraction with negative and decimal numbers thrown into the challenge.
In English, Year 6 are currently reading Michael Morpurgo’s, Friend and Foe, (a wartime historical and fictional story on displacement). This story is centred on children experiences as evacuees. This topic will lead to Year 6 writing their own chapter story.

In Religious Education, Year 6 have been investigating Christian values, making links to the ways in which we live our lives, in a quest to realising a deeper understanding of its core beliefs.
In PSHE, Year 6 have been investigating ‘being a Global Citizen’ and our responsibilities to making our world a better place to live in.
This half term, Blackman Class are currently learning the lifesaving skills of swimming - as part of their PE journey. Next half term, Palacio will start their aquatic endeavours.
