Castle Academy launches Teacher Development programme to share expertise with local schools

Castle Academy in Northampton is looking to share expertise with other local schools with the launch of a training and development programme for teachers.

The primary school, which is part of the East Midlands Academy Trust, is the first in Northamptonshire to be recognised as a designated centre of excellence by OLEVI, an international training programme for leadership in teaching and learning.

Senior staff at Castle Academy are delivering training designed to improve the skills of qualified teachers including the Outstanding Teacher Programme, Outstanding Leadership in Education and Outstanding Teaching Assistant Programme.

The first series of courses at the Castle Hub begins next month with a number of local schools signed up, and applications are now being taken for the next programme starting in January.

Headteacher Lorna Beard said: “At Castle, we work really hard to support our staff in their development and we’re now looking to share that learning and expertise with other schools in the local area.

“The OLEVI programmes we’re offering are all about working with qualified teachers to build on their existing skills and support them to be the best teachers they can be, which in turn will benefits the pupils we teach.

“I’m delighted with the interest we’ve already had from local schools looking to take advantage of the programme we’re offering at Castle, and I’d encourage any other schools who’d like to find out more to get in touch.”
